OpenAI Steps Into Music and Real-Time Translation

OpenAI is moving deeper into audio AI with two major projects. The first focuses on music creation, where text or sample audio can be turned into original compositions. To train the system with real musicianship, OpenAI has worked with Juilliard students to capture nuance in rhythm, tone, and intent.

The second is a real-time speech translation tool. Unlike traditional translators, it waits for key parts of speech before producing full sentences, making conversations sound smoother and more natural. A public demo in London showed the system in action, with rollout expected soon.

Both efforts reflect OpenAI’s push to embed AI into everyday creative and communication tools, competing with rivals like Google and Suno. If successful, these projects could make AI an everyday partner for music and global conversations.

Microsoft announced major updates to Windows 11, adding voice activation (“Hey Copilot”), expanding its “Copilot Vision” feature globally, and introducing “Copilot Actions” letting the assistant perform tasks (e.g., ordering groceries) with limited permissions.

Additionally, Microsoft is pivoting Windows 11’s experience around its AI assistant, increasingly making voice and vision core interfaces rather than optional features.

Google Introduces AI in MAPS (Source)

Google Maps is about to feel more like a co-pilot than a navigation app. Thanks to Gemini, Google’s new AI assistant, users will soon be able to change routes or get tips without touching their screens. Just say, “Avoid tolls” and Gemini will adjust your trip instantly.

Early beta testers have already seen the feature in action, with Gemini handling not just directions but also answering questions about weather, local spots, and more. The update signals Google’s broader shift as Gemini replaces Google Assistant across phones, smart homes, and now Maps.

A full release date hasn’t been confirmed, but with the feature already live in testing, the rollout seems close. Once it arrives, Maps could move beyond simple directions…offering hands-free navigation, local recommendations, and a more conversational driving experience.

OpenAI Buys Sky to Bring Smarter AI to Mac

OpenAI has made another big move, acquiring Software Applications Incorporated, the company behind Sky, an AI-powered interface for Mac. Sky lets you control apps and files on your Mac through natural language, skipping manual clicks. When paired with ChatGPT, this could mean more seamless, agent-like experiences think telling your Mac what you want and having it done automatically.

Nick Turley, OpenAI’s VP and Head of ChatGPT, said the deal accelerates their vision of making ChatGPT not just conversational, but action-oriented. The Sky team, made up of former Apple engineers, will now join OpenAI.

The acquisition comes as OpenAI pushes deeper into agentic tools. Its new ChatGPT Atlas browser already blends AI into every tab, while competitors like Perplexity’s Comet and Apple’s upgraded Shortcuts show how the industry is racing toward AI-driven user experiences.

For Mac users, this could mean soon having a ChatGPT-powered assistant that organizes files, runs apps, or completes tasks right inside the OS

Gemini’s Canvas tool can now turn your doc into a full presentation in seconds (Source)

Google has upgraded Gemini’s Canvas tool so you can instantly turn any uploaded document or even a short text prompt into a full, themed presentation complete with sections, visuals, and formatting, ready to export into Google Slides. Instead of starting with a blank deck, Canvas now delivers a structured first draft in seconds, making presentation prep far quicker and easier. The feature is already rolling out to personal and Workspace accounts, with Pro subscribers seeing it first before reaching free users.

Google’s AI can now read your emails here’s how to shut it down fast (Source)

Google’s Gemini AI now scans Gmail by default to sort emails and refine ad targeting. If you’d rather keep it out of your inbox, go to Gmail settings, uncheck “Enable smart features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet,” and also disable “Smart features and personalization in other Google products.” These quick steps stop Gemini from reading your messages and give you back control over your data.

Prompt Of The Day

Medium close-up of Higgs on sofa, nervous guilty grin, whiskers twitching, eyes darting. He hides cigarette behind his back while thin smoke trail escapes upward. Pepsi glass and snacks on table, TV glow mixed with cool daylight from doorway. Mom stands unimpressed in background. Higgs stammers in English: ‘Uh… just… practicing my… relaxation skills, Mom!’ Lighting balanced warm vs cool. Sitcom-style laugh track overlays final seconds, freeze-frame comedic vibe.
