Microsoft's Medical AI Diagnoses Complex Cases More Accurately Than Generalist Doctors in a Study
Microsoft researchers have reported a significant breakthrough in AI-assisted medical diagnosis with MAI-DxO, a system that coordinates multiple AI agents to investigate complex medical cases. In a study published in Science, the system achieved 83% diagnostic accuracy, compared with 36% for individual generalist physicians using reference materials.
The system works by asking questions, selecting diagnostic tests and evaluating possible conditions, similar to how a medical team investigates difficult cases.
The results are promising, but the comparison did not include specialist teams, and real-world clinical effectiveness has not yet been established. Microsoft is now working with hospitals to evaluate the technology in actual healthcare settings. Source: Fox Business
Hugging Face Releases an Open AI Model That Lets Researchers Talk to DNA

Hugging Face has introduced Carbon-X, an open-source AI model that allows researchers to ask questions about DNA sequences using natural language.
Developed with international research partners, the 14-billion-parameter model can analyze genetic sequences and explain how mutations might affect gene activity or biological processes.
Researchers could potentially use it to investigate disease-causing mutations, identify drug targets and support the development of genetic therapies.
Unlike many large scientific AI systems, Carbon-X is designed to run locally on suitable computers, allowing sensitive genetic data to remain private. The model has not yet been validated through laboratory experiments, but it represents an interesting step toward making advanced genetic research more accessible. Source: Huggingface
A Former OpenAI Leader Wants Robots to Take Over Drug Discovery Labs
Former OpenAI science leader Kevin Weil has launched Warp Sciences, a startup developing AI-powered robots to automate laboratory experiments used in drug discovery. The company has raised $215 million and plans to train robots to prepare, synthesize and test chemical compounds that researchers identify as promising.
Human chemists will initially teach the robots laboratory procedures using cameras and sensor-equipped gloves, helping the machines learn tasks that usually require extensive manual work. If successful, the approach could shorten parts of the drug development process, reduce dependence on external laboratories and allow experiments to continue around the clock. Source: TechCrunch
Google Is Bringing AI Farming Assistance to One Million Farmers
Google.org is providing $2.5 million to support an AI-enabled agricultural network developed with the World Bank Group and the International Finance Corporation.
Building on an earlier pilot in India, the initiative aims to connect one million farmers to essential digital services by the end of 2027. Farmers could access credit, government subsidies, agricultural marketplaces and voice-based advice about weather, crop management, prices and financial decisions in their local languages.
The system is designed to bring these services into one connected network instead of requiring farmers to navigate multiple disconnected applications. If the expansion works as planned, it could demonstrate how AI can support agricultural livelihoods in regions where access to specialized advice remains limited. Source: Google Official Announcement
Anthropic Uses Claude to Mathematically Verify Security in More Than 100 Software Libraries
Anthropic researchers have demonstrated that Claude can help mathematically verify security properties in real-world software, a process traditionally requiring extensive work from specialised engineers. Working with Theorem, the research team generated formal proofs for selected security properties across more than 100 open-source software libraries.
Claude also identified previously undetected bugs while analyzing low-level machine code, including problems that had survived years of conventional testing. Unlike ordinary code testing, formal verification can provide mathematical guarantees that software behaves correctly under specifically defined conditions. The work does not prove that entire programs are free of bugs, but it suggests AI could make stronger software security checks more accessible to developers. Source: Anthropic Research
Google Is Expanding AI-Powered 3D Video Calls That Make People Feel Present
Google is expanding its Beam technology through a partnership with the United Service Organizations, with plans to bring lifelike 3D video communication to 20 locations worldwide. Unlike traditional video calling, Beam uses AI to create a three-dimensional experience that preserves natural eye contact, facial expressions and body language.
The technology is already being used in a pilot connecting military families between Poland and Texas, with additional locations now included in the expansion. Google has also released a documentary series showing how deployed service members use the technology to connect with their families. The project offers a practical glimpse of how AI-powered communication could eventually make remote interactions feel closer to meeting someone in person. Source: Google Official Announcement
Grok Imagine Releases the First Seven Minutes of an AI-Generated Odyssey Film
Grok Imagine has released the opening seven minutes of an AI-generated adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey, created in collaboration with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker. The project was initially discussed as a feature-length film, but the creators have presented the released footage as the first episode of a series.
Its publication provides a concrete example of filmmakers using generative video tools to produce an extended narrative sequence rather than isolated short clips. Questions remain about visual consistency, storytelling quality and whether the project can eventually deliver a complete long-form production.
For AI filmmakers, it is an interesting case study in how ambitious generative filmmaking projects are being developed and publicly tested.
Anthropic Makes AI Agent Skills an Open Standard for the Entire Industry
Anthropic has transferred its Agent Skills standard to the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation, giving the wider developer community a role in maintaining it.
Agent Skills allow developers to package instructions, scripts and reference materials so AI assistants can repeatedly perform specialized tasks without requiring users to explain the entire workflow each time.
According to Anthropic, more than 70 AI platforms, including ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and VS Code, have already integrated the standard. The company also reports approximately one million published skills and nearly 280 million installations.
Moving the standard into independent governance could make it easier for developers and businesses to build reusable AI workflows that function across competing platforms. Source: Anthropic Official Announcement
