Meta has announced a new partnership with Midjourney, licensing its AI image and video generation technology. Meta’s Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang said the collaboration will feed into Meta’s future AI models and products, calling it part of an “all-of-the-above approach” to stay competitive in the AI race.

The deal positions Meta to better compete with OpenAI’s Sora, Google’s Veo, and Black Forest Lab’s Flux. Meta already offers its own AI tools like Imagine for image creation and Movie Gen for video generation, but Midjourney’s technology could help close the gap with rivals.

Founded in 2022, Midjourney has become a leader in AI-generated visuals, reportedly generating $200 million in revenue by 2023. It runs on a subscription model (from $10 to $120 per month) and recently launched its first video model, V1. Despite the partnership, CEO David Holz confirmed Midjourney will remain independent and has never taken outside funding.

The agreement comes amid a broader AI push from Meta, which has spent heavily on talent, invested $14 billion in Scale AI, and acquired startups like Play AI. However, Midjourney faces legal pressure: both Disney and Universal are suing the startup over claims it trained its AI on copyrighted content — a challenge Meta and other AI developers are also grappling with.

Meta Might Be Scanning Your Camera Roll: How to Check and Turn It Off

Some Facebook users have discovered that Meta has quietly enabled settings allowing the app to scan and analyze photos from their phone’s camera roll. The company says it uses these images to provide AI-powered suggestions, like collages, highlights, or restyled versions of your pictures.

The issue is that these settings — called “camera roll sharing suggestions” — appear to be switched on by default, even for users who don’t recall giving explicit consent. While Meta insists the photos aren’t used for ads and suggestions are only visible to you, the fact that the app can access and retain private, unposted photos has raised serious privacy concerns.

How to Turn It Off

1. Open the Facebook app.

2. Go to Menu > Settings & Privacy > Settings.

3. Scroll to Camera roll sharing suggestions.

4. Toggle off both options:

   • “Get camera roll suggestions when you’re browsing Facebook.”

   • “Get creative ideas made for you by allowing camera roll cloud processing.”

Disabling these stops Facebook from uploading and analyzing your camera roll. If you had it on, Meta says it deletes uploaded photos after 30 days once the feature is turned off.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to Visit India

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will visit India in September 2025 as the company prepares to open its first office in the country later this year. Backed by Microsoft, OpenAI has already set up a legal entity in India and begun hiring for local sales roles. Currently, its only employee in India is Pragya Misra, who leads public policy and partnerships, while former Twitter India head Rishi Jaitly serves as a senior adviser.

Apple Prepares Enterprises for AI With New ChatGPT Controls

Apple is rolling out new enterprise tools in September that give businesses more control over how employees use AI. The update includes the option to configure ChatGPT for Enterprise directly in Apple’s systems, letting IT admins decide whether AI requests can be sent to OpenAI’s service or handled only on-device through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute.

What makes this significant is that Apple’s framework isn’t locked to ChatGPT. Admins will be able to allow or restrict any external AI provider, meaning Apple could add future partnerships without rebuilding its system. This flexibility comes as ChatGPT for Enterprise now serves more than 5 million business customers.

Beyond AI, Apple is adding enterprise-focused features:

• A new API for Apple Business Manager to integrate with IT tools like MDM or help desks.

• Easier device migration tools for mergers and acquisitions.

• Improvements to Return to Service, allowing wiped devices to keep apps preinstalled, now available on Vision Pro.

• On shared Macs, a new authenticated Guest Mode and support for NFC logins using Apple Watch or iPhone.
