Google Launches Nano Banana 2 And It’s Insane

Google released Nano Banana 2 on February 26, the latest version of the AI image generator that went viral last August. The original Nano Banana prompted millions of image generations inside the Gemini app, particularly in India. Its successor, Nano Banana Pro, followed in November with studio-quality output but slower speeds.

Nano Banana 2 brings the best of both together: Pro-level fidelity at Flash-tier speed. It is now the default image model across the Gemini app, Google Search, Lens, AI Studio, Vertex AI, and even Google Ads.

The most striking improvement is text rendering…the model can now produce clean, readable typography directly inside generated images across multiple languages, something AI image tools have historically struggled with badly. It also pulls real-time information from Gemini's knowledge base, meaning it can depict specific real-world places, current events, or up-to-date data with remarkable accuracy.

Google says every image carries a SynthID watermark, and the verification feature has already been used over 20 million times since November. In a market where OpenAI, ByteDance, and Adobe are all pushing hard on image generation, Google is betting that speed plus accuracy plus free access is the combination that wins. Perplexity Launches "Computer," a Multi-Model Digital Worker

Perplexity Computer, a platform that coordinates 19 specialised AI models to execute complex workflows with minimal human intervention. Rather than relying on a single language model, Computer distributes tasks across specialist models for reasoning, research, image generation, and long-context recall.

Users describe a desired outcome, and the system breaks it into subtasks, spawns sub-agents to handle them in parallel, and delivers a finished product. It can run for hours or even months. The product is currently available to Perplexity Max subscribers on a credit-based pricing model. It represents a significant bet that the future of AI lies not in any single model, but in intelligent orchestration across many. (Source: Perplexity )

Google Gemini 3.1 Pro Reclaims the Benchmark Crown

Google released Gemini 3.1 Pro on February 19, and within hours it had topped 13 of 16 major AI benchmarks. The standout number is 77.1% on ARC-AGI-2, a test specifically designed so that models cannot memorize their way to a high score.. it forces genuine reasoning on patterns the model has never seen before. That is more than double the 31.1% scored by Gemini 3 Pro just three months earlier. The gains extend beyond reasoning: the model leads on graduate-level science, competitive coding, and autonomous agent task completion.

It also introduces a configurable thinking system that lets developers dial reasoning depth up or down per request, trading speed for quality depending on the task. What makes the release especially aggressive is the pricing. (Sources: Google Blog )

xAI Launches Grok 4.20 Beta with a Multi-Agent "Debate" Architecture

On February 17, Elon Musk posted that Grok 4.20 was live - no event, no countdown, just a post on X. But the release turned out to be the most architecturally different model any major lab has shipped this year. Instead of one language model generating a response, Grok 4.20 routes every query to four specialized AI agents that think in parallel and argue with each other in real time before giving you an answer.

Google Absorbs Intrinsic to Build the "Android of Robotics"

Google announced on February 25 that it is folding Intrinsic, Alphabet's robotics software subsidiary, directly into the company. The move is designed to accelerate physical AI by integrating Intrinsic's developer platform with Google DeepMind's models, Gemini, and Google Cloud infrastructure. Intrinsic builds software that makes industrial robots easier to program and operate without specialized expertise. (Source: CNBC )

ChatGPT's Market Share Drops 19 Points as Gemini Surges

New data from Similarweb reveals the most significant shift in the AI chatbot landscape since ChatGPT launched. OpenAI's flagship product now holds 68% of the market, down from 87.2% just one year ago. Google's Gemini has been the primary beneficiary, surging from 5.4% to 18.2% market share - a 237% year-over-year jump driven largely by native integration across Android devices and Google services.
