Chinese start-up MiniMax has unveiled its new AI model, M2, which has set a record on Artificial Analysis’s global intelligence index. With 200 billion parameters powered by a Mixture-of-Experts design, M2 only activates 10 billion parameters at a time, making it highly efficient compared to rivals. The model outperformed Google DeepMind’s Gemini 2.5 Pro and now ranks among the world’s top five AI models, behind OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI.
MiniMax says M2 is built for advanced reasoning and excels at agentic and coding tasks, carrying logical steps across multi-turn interactions. Priced at $0.30 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output tokens, it’s significantly cheaper than most U.S. competitors, though it remains token-intensive for benchmarks.
Backed by apps like Talkie and Hailuo AI, and immediate support from inference provider vLLM, MiniMax is targeting international expansion and may seek a Hong Kong IPO valued at over $4 billion later this year. The launch highlights China’s push to build agentic, globally competitive AI systems.

OpenAI Offers Free ChatGPT Go for a Year in India

OpenAI is giving Indian users a major perk: free access to its ChatGPT Go plan for one year starting November 4. Normally priced under $5 per month, the plan offers 10x more usage than the free version, plus image generation, file uploads, and improved memory for personalized responses. The offer is open to both new sign-ups and existing subscribers during the promotional window.
India is OpenAI’s second-largest market after the US, but monetization has been tough despite millions of downloads. This move aims to deepen adoption ahead of its DevDay Exchange conference in Bengaluru, where India-specific updates are expected. Rivals like Google and Perplexity are also targeting the country with free AI plans, making the competition even tighter.

Over a Million ChatGPT Users Talk About Suicide Each Week, OpenAI Data Reveals (Source)
OpenAI has revealed that more than one million people each week use ChatGPT to talk about suicide. The company shared that 0.15% of its 800 million weekly active users have conversations showing explicit signs of suicidal planning or intent. Alongside this, hundreds of thousands of users also display signs of mania, psychosis, or heightened emotional attachment to the chatbot.
To address these risks, OpenAI says it has worked with over 170 mental health experts to improve ChatGPT’s responses. The latest GPT-5 model now gives what the company calls “desirable responses” to mental health issues 65% more often than previous versions, with 91% compliance in safety evaluations compared to 77% before. Still, lawsuits and regulatory scrutiny continue, especially following a case involving a teenager’s death.
The company is also adding parental controls, age prediction systems, and new benchmarks to detect emotional reliance and mental health crises. While GPT-5 appears to be safer, OpenAI acknowledges there are still gaps raising important questions about the role of AI in conversations around mental health.
Create On-Brand Campaigns in 3 Steps With Google’s Pomelli
Google has introduced Pomelli, a new AI marketing tool built by Google Labs and DeepMind to help small and medium-sized businesses create professional, on-brand content without heavy costs or design expertise.
Pomelli works in three steps: First, it analyzes your website to build a “Business DNA” profile that captures your tone, fonts, images, and color palette. Then, it generates tailored campaign ideas aligned with your brand identity. Finally, it produces ready-to-use marketing assets—social posts, ads, or creatives—that you can edit and download directly.
The tool is launching as a public beta in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. While it’s still early, Google says the goal is to give SMBs scalable marketing power that feels authentic and consistent, while collecting user feedback to refine the product.
Instant Checkout Arrives in ChatGPT with PayPal Power
PayPal is partnering with OpenAI to bring instant checkout to ChatGPT through the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP). This means users will be able to browse, discover, and buy products directly in conversations using PayPal, without leaving the app.
For merchants, it opens a new AI-driven sales channel, making their products discoverable to ChatGPT’s global audience. PayPal will handle payments, buyer protections, and post-purchase services.
With over 400 million PayPal users and 800 million ChatGPT users, this partnership marks a major step toward AI-powered conversational commerce, streamlining shopping into a simple chat experience.
