China Develops Quantum Chip 1 Quadrillion Times Faster Than Supercomputers (Source)

Chinese researchers have created a quantum processing unit (QPU) called Zuchongzhi 3.0, which is 1 quadrillion times faster than today’s most powerful supercomputers. The 105-qubit chip, developed by the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), competes with Google’s Willow QPU, a major player in quantum computing.
The chip completed a complex task in seconds, which would take Frontier, the world’s second-fastest supercomputer, 5.9 billion years to finish. This breakthrough strengthens China's claim to quantum supremacy, where quantum computers surpass traditional supercomputers.
Zuchongzhi 3.0 also improves on quantum error correction and gate fidelity, reducing errors and increasing accuracy in calculations. While Google's Willow QPU still holds a slight edge in precision, China’s progress marks a major step toward real-world quantum computing applications.

Brain implant designed to restore vision in individuals who are completely blind (Source)

Blindsight is Neuralink’s experimental brain implant designed to restore vision in individuals who are completely blind. It works by implanting a microelectrode array into the visual cortex, stimulating neurons to create visual images. Even those blind from birth may gain sight if their visual cortex is intact.
Elon Musk stated that initial vision will be low resolution, like Atari graphics, but could eventually surpass natural vision, even enabling infrared and ultraviolet sight. Neuralink is currently seeking participants for its clinical trials.
Neuralink recently completed its first human implant, allowing a quadriplegic patient to control digital devices using only their thoughts. The company aims to develop a brain-computer interface (BCI) that can connect to all parts of the brain, paving the way for advanced neurotechnology.
